The 2026 Offshore Sarangani Earthquake: Crustal deformation detected by ALOS-2 and ALOS-4 data

Released: Jun. 10, 2026 Japanese version of this page

Summary

M7.8 (USGS) earthquake occurred in Mindanao Island, Philippines, on June 7, 2026 (UTC). To measure the crustal deformation caused by this earthquake, we applied interferometric analysis using ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 and ALOS-4/PALSAR-3 data. The analysis clearly revealed the spatial distribution of crustal deformation.
  • Coseismic crustal deformation was observed in southern Mindanao Island.
