Releasing twelve new sheets of Active Fault Map for four fault zones to support local preparedness against earthquakes

2018-07-12:GSI publishes a series of “1:25000 Active Fault Maps” that delineate active faults and relevant topographic features in major active fault zones across Japan, in accordance of the Government’s policy of enhancing earthquake research that was introduced based on the lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in January 1995.
On 12 July, twelve new maps were added to this series, including “SHIROUMADAKE (Revised Edition)” in Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line Active Fault Zone and its surroundings.
