Survey for Monitoring Movement of Ice Sheet : Outline
Survey for Monitoring Movement of Ice SheetGeneral DescriptionThe surveys for monitoring movement of ice sheet are performed for the purpose of detecting movements of the ice sheet. First started by the 38th JARE (1996) using the ice sheet flow measurement point (S16), 19 km east of Syowa station, established by the National Institute for Polar Research in 1992. Two new points, P50 (S15) and S17, were established by the 39th JARE(1997), and are still in use constantly. *The antenna is installed on the top of a pole and the pole has been extended in a step-by-step manner in oreder to avoid covering accumulated snow.

S17 point
The location of S17point was determined using detailed base line analysis based on the IGS point at Syowa Station(SYOG). By Finding the relative position, fluctuation and fluctuation vectors are shown. S17(Horizontal Fluctuation) S17(Ellipsoidal Height) Survey of Exposed Rock AreasGeneral Description
Main objective of the survey of exposed rock areas is to detect post-glacial rebound (uplift phenomenon caused by deglaciation). Data is collected from repeat surveys with GNSS (GPS) set up by the 37th JARE (1995) on the control point in Yukidori Zawa, Langhovde, 27 km south of Syowa station. Permanent GNSS (GPS) Observation Site Variation Graph The coordinates of the permanent GNSS (GPS) observation site (LANG) were determined by baseline analysis using GAMIT/GLOBK software on the IGS station at Syowa station (SYOG).The variation graph of the coordinates shown is from after the installation of the permanent GNSS (GPS) observation site.
